Week 3 Analysis: Businesses & Audiovisual Media

The video for Full Sail told a story about how they have built up the environment to give thousands of students their opportunity to learn about the many aspects of media. The story talks about how the students use their tools everyday to work on projects and start to further their professional career. The video goes over many of the tools that they have available for their students focusing mainly on their ‘partnership’ with Apple. Full Sail offers Project Launchbox to all of their students as the main tool to use for all things to do with school and work. With all of the development apps that students have available to them through Launchbox, Full Sail aims to prepare students as much as they can before they leave to start their career in any one of the many media areas. It is used as a successful recruitment tool because it shows people that one of Full Sails main goals is to prepare them for their professional life.

Dollar Shave Club is the Einstein in the world of advertisement. The video discusses their new product, One Wipe Charlie. “Why do you need a butt wipe? Because you're not an animal, and whatever you are using now, is primitive,” is one the of examples that Mike, the CEO, gives you as to why you should buy their product. He also says, “You shouldn’t have to be special forces to extract the bad guy.” The main point of the video is that One Wipe Charlie will save you time and money, so why not? Dollar Shave Clubs dry, and slightly insulting humor attracts attention and keeps people coming back for more, as you can see from the 3.3 million views.

The Science World showcases the new building and some of the new exhibits. It shows how the workers, volunteers etc are having so much fun at the museum, and if you go and see it, you will have a ton of fun as well. They played the song You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet, which encourages you to go and see what else they have to offer there. The video doesn’t have a storyline. Although it was a very creative video, it lacked in quality for a few reasons. It was very fast paced and you couldn't really see many of the actual exhibits that they were trying to show off. It was also very dark, which added to them not being able to be seen. Overall, the video lacked much of what would make Science World seem interesting, and ended up not living up to the potential it could have with a little better effort.
